Laure Anne Frank (McNeill), 63, of Gainesville, FL passed away on 21 April 2022. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Faith Catholic Church at 11AM on 30 April 2022. Laure was born in Freeport, NY, to John Francis McNeill and Barbara Anne Clemens on 22 June 1958. She was raised in South Hempstead, NY and went to Uniondale High School, graduating in 1976. She attended SUNY Brockport and received her Bachelor of Science in Epidemiology in 1980, followed by Syracuse University where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1983. Afterward, she moved to the Washington, DC area and worked at George Washington Hospital before meeting her husband-to-be, Jonathan Joseph Frank in 1988. They married on 20 October 1990 and relocated to Florida shortly after, settling in Gainesville in 1992 where they raised their four children.
Laure worked as a Registered Nurse (RN) at North Florida Regional Medical Center while also an adjunct professor at Santa Fe College. In 2014 she became an associate Professor of Nursing. She was awarded the Provost Teaching and Learning Excellence Award in 2019. Laure was a passionate teacher and cared deeply for every one of her students and patients. She often said teaching was her true calling, and she was happy to be able to help so many people. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, volunteering, and spending time with animals. She loved reading and co-founded a Book Club with her friends, celebrating its 20th year this June.
Laure was a beloved mother and wife and will be missed by many. She is survived by her husband Jonathan Frank and her four children: Genevieve K. (Erick McGartland), Connor J. Frank, Justine A. Frank, and Noelle M. Frank. Laure is also survived by her three siblings: Donald F. McNeill (Lourdes) of Coral Gables, FL; Lisa Ladson (Richard) of Columbia, SC; and Lorraine Keeffe (Max) of Columbia, SC.

I knew Laure and her family as a kid growing up in South Hempstead, Long Island. I lost contact with the family when they moved away, and reconnected with Laure on Facebook a few years ago. I was hoping to see her on our next trip to Florida, but unfortunately never got the chance. I’m sorry I never got to know her as an adult. She sounds like she was an amazing, loving and caring woman. My condolences and prayers to the family.
