Lena Younglove Ferris, 86, of Keystone Heights, FL passed away on January 14, 2021 in Palatka, Florida after a long illness. Visitation will be held at Forest Meadows Funeral Home, 725 NW 23 rd Ave., Gainesville FL on January 19 at 12:00 pm.
Lena was born in Tampa, FL to Joseph and Mary Ippolito on August 21, 1934. She went to high school at Hillsborough High and graduated in 1953. She went on to earn a license in Nursing from Santa Fe Community College. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for various employers for a number of years. She also worked in Sales for several employers for many years. She was engaged in community and charitable activities, and enjoyed helping others.
Her life passions were music and singing. She was a regular in her church choir, and often sang at talent shows and local musical events. She uplifted those around her with song throughout her life, and the lyrics and melody remained in her heart until death. We suspect she is now auditioning for a heavenly choir for a new musical director.
Lena is preceded in death by her son, Mark Younglove, and by her husband Robert Ferris, and her sister Mary Vondruska. Lena is survived by her children Jeffrey (Brenda), David, and Douglas
(Shannon) Younglove, sisters Nancy Brennan and Frances Worden, grandchildren Jesse Clayton, William Younglove, Austin Younglove, and Braden Younglove, and many nieces and nephews.
Condolences may be left in Lena’s online guestbook at forestmeadowsfh.com .
Funeral service will be held at Forest Meadows Funeral Home, 725 NW 23 rd Ave., Gainesville FL on January 19 at 1:00 pm. Burial/Interment will follow at Forest Meadows Memorial Park Central.

My deepest condolences to her son’s, family and friend’s. Mrs Young love was one of our neighborhood friends, I was the same age as her late-son Mark. Ms. Lena mended many a cut foot, road rash scrapes and hungry boys. She will always be remembered fondly by me!
Our Condolences,
Eddie and (April) McCormick
Aunt Lena will always be remembered for her love of singing and a very sweet smile. I loved hearing the words of praise and admiration that Jeff and Doug gave their mother at the funeral service yesterday. We love how David cared for her so many years in her home. I’m sure she was welcomed by so many family members who made their way to heaven before her. Thank you for adding more music to this world, Aunt Lena. We love you.
Love, Mary & Dan Holcombe
My deepest & heart felt condolences to Doug, Jeff & David & the entire family for your loss. I only wish I would have learned earlier of your mother’s passing (found out yesterday). I wish I could have been at the services to pay my respects & support the family. Your mother was so admirable in raising you boys. May God bring you peace in this difficult time of loss. From an old friend from the neighborhood. God bless,
Mike Fulford.
