Levi Lloyd Johnson, Sr.

Levi Lloyd Johnson 81, Gainesville, FL died Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center, Gainesville, FL. He was born October 23, 1931 in Clearmont, MO, the son of Levi R. and Zelpha (Webb) Johnson. Levi attended grade school in Maryville, MO.

He enlisted in the Army in 1948 and served until 1969 when he retired.  He went on to work as a Director of Environmental Services in various hospitals throughout the US.  He retired in 1995.

Levi was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters: Anna Galbraith, Marie Duscka, Irene Bennett, and Elma Jane (Johnson) Sportsman and a brother: Raymond Johnson.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years Joanne “Joni” Johnson, five sons and one daughter:  Levi Johnson, Jr., Colorado Springs, CO; Chuck and Sherry Wichmann, Milwaukee, WI; Robert Johnson, Los Angeles, CA; Mark and Danita Johnson, Longmont, CO;  Bryan and Addie Johnson, Gravette, AR; John and Camie Johnson, Tampa, FL; thirteen grandchildren:    Nathan Johnson, Natalie Johnson, Tava Johnson, Todd Wichmann, Scott Wichmann, Joel Wichmann, Bridget Johnson, Dylan Johnson, Sarah Johnson, Kelsee Johnson, Adelaide Johnson, Evelyn Johnson, Teelan Johnson and six great grandchildren; sisters and brothers: Harold and Irene Johnson and David and Sharon Johnson, Florida; Gerald and Paula Johnson, Omaha, NE and Merlin and Kay Atkins, Maryville, MO; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation is at 2:30 pm Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Forest Meadows Funeral Home, Gainesville. Graveside Funeral Services will be at 3 pm Monday, July 1, 2013 at the Florida National Cemetery, BushnellFL.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Levi’s name to the Parkinson Research Foundation. http://parkinsonresearchfoundation.org/

    I am so sorry for your loss. He was a wonderful man. I remember when Elna passed away he was giving her a hard time because it was so cold back here and he didn’t like it. I am so glad you all came back here last year for the reunion. Please know you are all in my prayers.
