Mary Louise Hansen Parker, 63, of Gainesville, FL passed away at home on Wednesday, November 23, 2016.
Mary had the enviable ability to find the silver lining in any storm. She was kind, generous, compassionate, empathetic, and indelibly hopeful. She saw good in others that even they couldn’t see in themselves. She had a gentle spirit that could calm the anxious, quiet the outraged, and comfort the distressed. Mary’s resilient approach to everything filled her life even as her body made it harder to live it. She was a loving mother, sister, daughter, and friend whose brightness will continue to warm those who were blessed to have known her.
She is survived by her four children, Christopher Parker (Denton, TX), Serenity Kines (Tucker, GA), Daniel Parker (Enterprise, AL), and Andrew Parker (Las Vegas, NV); her sisters, Carrol Benefiel (Gainesville, FL) and Ligia Libonati (White Plains, NY); and her brother, Frank Hansen, Jr (Tampa, FL).
Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Lucia Trimmer (Gainesville, FL) and Frank Hansen, Sr. (Los Angeles, CA); her step-father, Morris Trimmer (Gainesville, FL); and her loving companion, Douglas Butler (Gainesville, FL).
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at Forest Meadows Memorial Park Central, 4100 NW 39th Ave., Gainesville, on January 7, 2017 at 11:00am.
Arrangements are entrusted to Forest Meadows Funeral Home, Cemeteries and Crematory.
I’m so sorry for the loss of your mom. She was so full of smiles, all of the time. Thinking of your entire family during this sad time. Love you Dawn……Terri Smith
This is a beautiful tribute to your mother. She has left a loving legacy here on Earth with you, Serenity, and your brothers. ~Amy Selby
Such a beautiful tribute. From the moment she and Doug welcomed us to the neighborhood to the moment she hugged us good bye when we moved, she was kind and full of love and encouragement and hugs. Such a gentle and loving spirit. So much love and light to you all and may she be free from pain and sadness and dancing and smiling with Doug in the mystic now. <3 Bryann Ramachandra
We just learned of Mary’s passing, and are feeling a great loss. We would like to send her children our condolences. She was so important to Lucia and Morrie during the last decade of their lives. Her care of them gave them and our families great comfort. Morris and Amy
I’m sick to hear this. I’ve been searching for Mary for years and years. She was my best friend in Highland Lakes (205th St.) of North Miami Beach, Florida. I have wanted to reconnect and now I’ll never have the chance to see my good friend again. So sorry for your family. Sorry for Frank.
