Michael Eugene James, age 58, passed away in his sleep on February 17th, 2017.
Michael was born on October 14th, 1958 in Dearborn, Michigan, to Beulah Kilgore and Eugene James, but was raised by his uncle, Donald Kilgore, in Ocala, Florida. During his childhood, Michael was an avid painter and horse-rider. He joined the Navy at eighteen where he was stationed on the USS Nimitz. At twenty-nine, Michael started a family with Amy Lobb-James, and soon became a devoted father to three sons. After moving many times throughout his life, Michael eventually settled down in Melrose, Florida, where he has become a vital member of the local community. Michael was known for his passion for Harley Davidsons and his twenty-nine years spent working in auto body repair. Those who knew Mike appreciated his humor, hospitality, and compelling storytelling.
Michael is survived by Amy Lobb-James, the mother of his sons Dalton (Danielle), Dylan, and Carson; his sisters Linda (Rob), Pam (Gary), Rosie, and Vicky; his brothers Tony and Freddie; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins; and close friends Tom Whitton, Mike Jeffers, and Sharon Thompson.
A graveside funeral service will be held at Melrose Cemetery on Friday, February 24th, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. Please join us in honoring the life of Michael Eugene James.
So grateful to have known and loved Mike James. We will miss him but the best of him lives on in his three wonderful sons. Our prayers for all of his family members and dear friends who knew him best.
Mike was a son-in- law to enjoy. He welcomed us warmly on all of our visits and enjoyed cooking on the grill by the lake. He always had a good story to tell. If our RV needed something fixed, Mike was eager to fix it. We are thankful for the time we spent together at Dalton and Danielle’s wedding in Pennsylvania.
His memory lives on in our daughter Amy, and our grandsons Dalton, Dylan and Carson.
