In Loving Memory of

Mildred Woolsey

4/7/1933 - 6/24/2012

Mildred Lee Woolsey passed away on June 24, 2012.   Millie was the wife of Warren O. Woolsey.   She was the daughter of Rudolph and Bessie Lee of Panama City, Florida.   She was born on April 7, 1933.  She is survived by her husband of 60 years, her brother Vernon Lee (Carol) of Concord, Georgia , four children, Bill Woolsey (Kathy) of James Island, South Carolina, Tim Woolsey of Gainesville, Sharon McAlpine (Brian) of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Lauren Savickas (Terry) of Orlando, and seven grandchildren Ian, Rachel, Will, Sarah, Andrew, Nick, and Monica.

Mille was a native Floridian—her family were Florida Pioneers.   After graduating from Bay High in Panama City, she became a secretary in the base commander’s office at Tyndall AFB, when she met PFC Warren Woolsey.    Millie wouldn’t date any of the airmen, so Warren began attending Parker Methodist Church and was soon joining the Lee family for Sunday dinner.   Millie married Warren when he was ordered to Pine Castle Air Base near Orlando.    Millie moved to Gainesville for the first time in 1953, working Warren through College as telephone operator and bookkeeper for the Florida Union.    Millie’s first son was born at Alachua General, but soon she and her young family moved to Orlando where her other children were born and raised.   In 1970, she and Warren moved to Clifton, Virginia.    Once the children were older, Millie returned to work as a licensed agent for State Farm Insurance.   After retiring, Millie and Warren returned to Gainesville in 1995.   She was a member of The Chapel of Gainesville, the Begonia Circle of the Gainesville Garden Club and the Alachua Tuesday Morning Bridge Club.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday, June 27 at Forest Meadows Funeral Home, 725 NW 23rd Avenue.  A funeral service will be conducted at Forest Meadows at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 27. Internment is at the Newnansville – Alachua Cemetery.
