Letitia Doris Welsh, 97, of Gainesville Florida went into the loving arms of Jesus Christ her Lord on
January 22, 2023. Doris (as she was known) was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 27, 1925.
Her deceased parents, Frederick and Letitia Maude, were also from the Philadelphia area. Doris had
nine siblings who pre-deceased her. She was married to the late Archibald (Archie) Welsh who was a
decorated WWII veteran. They were married for 55 years during Archie’s lifetime. Doris and Archie had
six children including Marge McKee, Doris Strenk, Nancy Fisher (deceased), Carol Burke, Robert Welsh,
and Joyce Welsh. Doris also had eleven grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren.
Doris worked at a number of jobs during her lifetime but enjoyed other passions in her life including
home making/raising her children, going on family trips, sewing and reading. Doris had a full and
wonderful life as an adult and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Doris’ viewing and funeral will be held at Forest Meadows Mausoleum (4100 NW 39 th Ave., Gainesville,
FL 32606) on Saturday January 28, 2023. The viewing will start at 1:00 PM and the funeral will start at
2:00 PM. Interment will be held immediately after the funeral service. A reception will follow at the
Fellowship Hall at Wesley United Methodist Church (826 NW 23rd Ave Gainesville, FL 32609)

Aunt Doris, I have SO MANY happy memories of you and Uncle Archie! I loved coming to your house in Croydon, I loved seeing you at the family parties, Weddings and celebrations. I loved your quick wit and your no nonsense personality, you always made family get togethers fun! You will be dearly missed but I’m so happy you are reunited with Uncle Archie and Nancy and everyone else from the family that has gone on before you!
Aunt Doris, you were the best Godmother I always loved going to your house and spend a week playing and riding bikes. Thank you for all the great things you did for me .
You are now reunited with the love of your life, Uncle Archie and Nancy. I know everyone was so excited to see you when you arrived in Heaven. Rest in Peace! You will be missed but until we meet again. Love you! !♥️♥️💕
