Norma Jean Womble Ferber

Norma Jean Womble Ferber, 84 of Gainesville, FL, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 14, 2016. Norma was born in Mayport, FL and was a lifelong resident of Florida.

Norma was a dedicated wife and homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and was known to all as “Granny.” She enjoyed watching classic movies, spending time with family, and writing.

She is preceded in death by her husband- John A. Ferber of 58 years, 3 brothers- Edward T. Womble, Jr., James A. Womble, Franklin V. Womble and sister- Lilly M. Skinner. She is survived by her son- John E. Ferber of Archer, FL, daughter- Joanne Ferber of Gainesville, FL, daughter- Linda Jean Ferber Palmer (Andy) of Gainesville, FL, brother- Neil C. Womble of Jacksonville, FL, and sister- Beverly C. Milicich of Jacksonville, FL, and 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

The family will be gathering at Forest Meadows Funeral Home, 725 NW 23rd Ave. on Tuesday, January 19th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm; all are welcome to come and share with the family. Norma’s celebration of life service will be Wed., January 20th at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Please come and celebrate with the family. Arrangements by Forest Meadows Funeral Home, 352-378-2528.

    Linda, Thank you for being in my life! You are truly my best friend and confidant. Sending love and support to you, Jack, Mindy, Robbie and Stephen. Your Mom was a colorful, imaginative and unique person. She always made me feel welcome in her home. The family stories you’ve shared are treasured memories full of laughter, tears, joy and love.
    Norma Jean will be missed by many.
