Polly D. Barr, age 80, of Gainesville, FL since 1979, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, March 27, 2017.
She passed peacefully at home surrounded by family. Born in Damascus, GA., to the late Johnnie G. and M. Flora Daniel. Polly was a loving and devoted wife and mother of four. She met the love of her life at church at the age of 14 and they married two years later.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Daniel A. Barr, her children, Charisse Daniels of Leesburg, GA, Michelle Thomas of Albany, GA, John S. Barr and wife, Jill, of Beverly Hills, FL., and Dana Bevins of Gainesville. Dear to her heart, she also leaves behind, 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Polly, by her husband’s side, travelled overseas and across the United States from Florida to Alaska while serving as a military wife for 20 years.
While raising a family, she was proud to have accomplished a late- in- life goal and received her degree as a registered nurse. She often enjoyed the simple pleasures of working in her garden, treasure hunting at garage sales, refinishing and restoring old furniture, and a game of dominoes or scrabble with family and friends.
The services for Polly will be Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Gainesville Baptist Church (3570 NW 16TH Blvd. Gainesville, FL) where she and her husband enjoyed fellowship. Presiding over the service will be
Pastor Brad Noble. Viewing begins at 1:30 with the service following at 2:00 at the church, followed by a graveside interment at Forest Meadows Memorial Park Central.

Polly you were a dear sister-in-law and I always enjoyed when we could visit. I am so sorry that I could not be with the family at a time like this but living at the southern tip of Texas was just not able to make the trip. I have so many good memories of you as I know my family does also.
