Richard F. “Dick” Rogers, Sr. age 89, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013. Dick was born March 9, 1924 in Ocala, Florida. He lived most of his life in Gainesville, Florida. Dick was a Real Estate Broker and the owner of Rogers Realty and was a past member of the Board of Realtors. Dick served in the U.S. Navy for 5 years during World War II. Prior to his service in the Navy, he worked for Ross Alan at Silver Springs.
In 1949 Dick received his degree in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the University of Florida. Dick was a Manager at Maas Brothers in Tampa and Gainesville for 23 years. In 1975 Dick was the Chairman of the United Way Campaign. Dick was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Mildred Rogers. He is also survived by 2 children, Richard (Julia) Rogers and Cheryl Rogers of Gainesville and 2 grandchildren, Ian and Kelsie.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Chapel in the Meadows at Forest Meadows Central, 4100 NW 39th Avenue, Gainesville 32606 with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Gainesville Fischer House.
