Robert “Bob” Marion


Robert “Bob” Marion, 66, of Newberry, Florida, went home to the Lord on Wednesday August 8, 2018. Bob was born February 15, 1952 in Paterson, New Jersey. He graduated from Butler High School in 1971, and married his high school sweetheart, Rita Grasso in 1977. Before moving to Florida in 1986, Bob served with the Butler, NJ Volunteer Fire Department and was employed by the New Jersey Department of Motor Vehicles. He had a love for golf, slots and Gator football, and could often be seen traveling down Newberry Road on his mobility scooter to the gym, where he inspired many.

Bob is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rita Grasso Marion, his daughter Faith Marion Schmidt and her husband Jacob of Tampa, FL, his son Joseph Robert Marion of Gainesville, FL, his sister Eileen Cook of South Pasadena, FL and many others who loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Grace.

A memorial service will be held 11:00am on October 20th, 2018, at Forest Meadows Memorial Park Central “Chapel in the Meadows”, 4100 NW 39th Ave, Gainesville, FL 32606.  There will be a gathering for family and friends thirty minutes prior to services. Family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to National Multiple Sclerosis Society.  Arrangements are under the care of Forest Meadows Funeral Home, Gainesville, FL.
