Gainesville – Robert F. Hester, 72, of Gainesville, FL passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at the VA Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Faye Hester and a son, Jeffery Hester.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Hester, children, Stephen Hester, Nv., Lindsey (Matt) Zielsdorf, Ar., Carolyn (Tony) Curtis, Fl., John Benz, Fl. Grandchildren, Markus and Shawn Zielsdorf, Chace Curtis, Alexa Benz. Brother, William (Emily) Hester, Tx., sister, Fran (Larry) Ridley, Fl., and cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Bob served in the United States Air Force, fought in the Vietnam War. He was an Assistant Administrator of Business Services, Director of Parking, an investigator for the University of Florida Police Department and retired after 32 years of service.
His interests were fishing, reading, photography, spending time with his family, friends and researching different things, and being our chef.
He received his Doctorate of Philosophy 1998, Masters of Criminal Justice 1980, FBI Academy 1978 and Bachelor of Arts 1976.
Memorial Services will be Sunday, July 5th at 3:00 pm at the Chapel in the Meadows, 4100 NW 39th Avenue, Gainesville and following the memorial service will be a celebration of life for Bob at Villas of West End Club House.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations to the Wounded Warriors Foundation or to the charity of their choice.
Bob was the investigating officer for my case back when he worked with the University of Florida Police Department. He was professional and thorough. I will never forget his kindness. Bob was also a friend to Wiley over the years. Prayers for the family.
