Smith, Robert Kyle “Bobby”, 47 of Gainesville, died April 27th, 2013 at Shands @ UF after a 30 year battle with Systemic Lupus. Bobby was born on April 12th, 1966 in Gainesville and has been a resident of the area all his life. While Lupus causes many problems, Bobby always had a great attitude and never complained.
Bobby was an avid Gator fan and enjoyed gardening. As his bother Kyle remarked, “If there is truly a garden in heaven, they just got the best gardener ever.”
Bobby is survived by his daughter Sarah Smith and son Kyle Smith, his parents Larry and Barbara Smith, brothers Steve and Mike Smith and a sister Jenny Hamby(David), the mother of his children Susan Lindsey, and was loved by his many nieces, nephews and cousins. By far Bobby was the strongest man many people knew and will be missed by all.
In Lieu of flowers,donations may be made to the Lupus Foundation of Gainesville, 720 SW 2nd Avenue Gainesville, FL 32601. Funeral services for Bobby will be held at the Forest Meadows Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, April 30th, 2013 at 6:00pm with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service at 5:00pm. Burial will be private at a later date.
Bobby was loved and will be missed by so many people. He was one of the strongest people I have ever known. I hope he can rest and be at peace now. He will be loved and missed forever. Our prayers go out to his family and friends.
