Ruth E. Schroeder

Mrs. Ruth E. Schroeder of Gainesville, FL, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2012 at her home. She was 92.

Mrs. Schroeder was born Ruth Eleanor Kriby, March 24, 1920, in Portland, Maine. After growing up in Maine, she went on to graduate from Wagner College, Staten Island, NY where she met her husband, Martin O.F. Schroeder. They graduated together in 1942 and were married shortly thereafter. Mrs. Schroeder was a military wife and traveled the world with her husband until he retired as a Colonel from the U.S. Army. They spent almost 60 years together until he passed away in 2004.

Ruth is survived by her sister, Lois Fisher, of Pennsylvania; her three children, Richard Schroeder of Gainesville, Florida; Barbara McArdle of New Jersey, and Jane Minard of Ochlockonee Bay, Florida; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Services will be held and Ruth will be buried with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. Services will be arranged by Forest Meadows Funeral Home in Gainesville, FL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made “In Memory of Ruth E. Schroeder” to Haven Hospice, Attention: Judy Trotta, 4200 NW 90th Blvd, Gainesville, FL 32606.
