Terry D. Boate

Terry D. Boate died on August 24th after falling at his home in Gainesville.  He was born April 2, 1943 in Lima, Ohio.  He graduated from Elida High School where he was a standout in Football, Baseball, Track and Basketball.  He was selected for All-Ohio in football and attended Wittenberg College in Springfield, Ohio on a football scholarship.  After earning his Bachelor of Science in 1965, he taught English and History and coached football, basketball and track in the Ohio school system.  He relocated to Jacksonville, Florida in 1985 as Agency Manager for Modern Woodmen of America.  Terry was a Certified Life Underwriter and a Chartered Financial Consultant.  He returned to teaching in 2000 and taught at Bradford High School four years before retiring because of health issues.  He was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church, an avid college football fan and became a Gator convert.

Terry is survived by his wife Sue Boate, three sons, Ben Boate of Savannah, Brent Boate and Brandon Boate of Jacksonville, step-sons, Chet Moody (Sarah) of Orlando, Brian Moody of Atlantic Beach, his beloved Grandchildren Shayla and Chase Moody of Orlando and his twin brother, Jerry (Carol) of Cincinnati, Ohio.

    Had some fun times during the Sable Chase days.
    Remember when I mowed the FSU in your front yard.
    Terry got a kick out of that.
