Thomas R. Turk, Sr.

Thomas Turk, 81, celebrated his heavenly birthday on Monday, February 10, 2014. Son of Ella

Gilstrap Nelson, he was born in Stone Mountain, GA on December 19, 1932 and was raised in

Cartersville, GA.

 

Tom honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War, later graduated from

the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.  He was employed at the University of Florida as the Asst. Director of Environmental Health & Safety.  In retirement, Tom was an avid golfer.

 

He was preceded in death by his dear wife of 47 years, Patricia Ann Guyton and is survived by

his three children: Pam Coffey (Dan), Val Peters (Chris) and Randy Turk; his six grandchildren:

Megan Barton, Jaryd Smart, Lauren Coffey, Abigail Coffey, Madison Peters and Jackson Peters

and one great-grandchild, Owen Barton.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Grace at Fort Clarke UMC, 9325 W Newberry Rd, Gainesville.  Visitation will be held one hour prior in the Chapel at Grace.   A brief reception will take place following service. Burial to follow at

Forest Meadows Memorial Park Central, 4100 NW 39th Avenue.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Haven Hospice. An online guestbook is available for condolences at www.forestmeadowsfh.com.
