Vincent was born in Hanover, Jamaica, the third child of Lemuel and Beatrice McKetty. He attended primary school in Pondside, Hanover and received his advanced education at Mico Training College for Teachers in Kingston, Jamaica.
He married Evelyn, his wife of over 66 years and together had seven children. For 38 years he worked as an educator, a dedicated teacher and principal at several schools in Jamaica West Indies. On his retirement from The Ministry of Education he migrated to the U.S. and made his home in Gainesville, Florida.
A man of Christian faith he attended and was actively involved at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. As a part of his ministry he sang on the folk choir for several years, served as a lector and intercessor and served on the vestry.
Vincent is survived by his wife Evelyn, his sister Laurel, his children Dennis (Brenda), Joye, Marlene (Alfred), Carlyle, Everett (Nevorria), Carol and Noel (Marcia) and 9 grandchildren, Marlon, Cinque, Camara, McKenna-Louise, Liam, Ariadne, Nicola, Matthew and Marissa. He also leaves 3 great grandchildren, Lewis, Carla and Francis and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He will be greatly missed by all including the many former students he guided and positively influenced.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 18, 2012 from 1 to 4 PM at Forest Meadows Funeral Home, 725 NW 23rd Avenue, Gainesville. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 19, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 100 N.E. 1st Street, Gainesville, FL with Rev. Louanne Loch officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Forest Meadows Memorial Park Central, 4100 NW 39th Avenue, Gainesville.
