Doug Browning, age 72, of Gainesville passed away Wednesday, February 4th, 2015 at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was born April 27th, 1942 in Muncie, IN to the late Elma and Virgil Browning. He was a wonderful and loving husband and father and grandfather.
He was an environmental engineer/owner of “BEST” (Browning Environmental Services Technology) for over 15 years . Prior to that, he worked with private environmental companies as well as with the USDA. He was an avid member of the Fightin’ Gator Touchdown Club, and Top Eliminator Club at the NHRA Gatornationals Raceway for more than 25 years. Mr. Browning was a longtime faithful member of Wesley United Methodist Church, being chairman of finance, and trustees for many years, he was also a member of the choir for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn Sands Browning, and four children, Leslie (Michael) Pourreau of Kennesaw, GA; Tina Dunham (Jason) Breeden of Gainesville, FL; Neal (Teri) Browning of Seattle, WA; and Shannon Dunham of Glennville, GA. Six grandchildren, Taylor and Allie Dunham, Audrey and Alex Pourreau, Addison and Nicole Browning also survive him. Doug loved his family and friends, loved life, and loved the Lord.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 7th, 2015 at 4:30pm at Wesley United Methodist Church, with Pastor Harry Holloman officiating. Doug was not my “blood” Uncle but he SURE filled those shoes like none other. I loved him and I will miss him.
