In Loving Memory of

William Arthur Hebebrand

 -

William Arthur Hebebrand was born on on February 26, 1936 in Warren, Ohio.  The eldest child of Alger and Anne Hebebrand, he had two sisters, Bobbe (deceased) and Diane, residing in Ohio. At 6’4″, Bill played football and basketball for Windham High School, excelling as a star on the basketball court. His love for the sport lasted his entire life supporting the Celtics, Duke, UF, and Ohio State. A year at Kent State and a stint in the Air Force, with a medical honorable discharge, were followed by his first marriage and the birth of a son, Bill Jr and daughter, Connie. On February 26, 1966, Bill married Harriet, becoming step-father to her young daughters, Merilee and Glenda, and they later welcomed their own daughter, Gayle in August of 1967. A proud Teamster, Bill spent his life driving semi trucks in Ohio and then in south Florida, often serving as shop steward. During the last few years before retirement, Bill drove for movie productions like “True Lies.”

Bill was an avid NASCAR and NHRA fan, even drag racing his own 1957 Chevy wagon at Morosso. “Chances Are” that family members will recall that Johnny Mathis was often playing on the stereo in their house. Many summers found Bill with his family boating and camping throughout Ohio and south Florida. Bill and Harriet were active band (grand)parents in Lake Worth while raising their grandson, Dale. In recent years, Bill was also active in the Hawthorne American Legion and the local blood bank. He will be missed by many friends and family members, but we know that he is rejoicing with our Savior and we will meet again in Heaven.
Bill is survived by his wife of almost 57 years, Harriet; sister, Diane (Carl) Valenti; son, Bill Jr, daughters Merilee (Buzz) Bakewelll and Glenda Guise; 8 grandchildren: Megan, Lindsey, Kristin, Casey, Kaitlyn, Andrea, April, and Casey; and 10 great grandchildren, a niece and 4 nephews, 1 great niece and 4 great nephews. He is predeceased by his daughters Connie and Gayle.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Woodlawn Baptist Church.
