William (Bill) W. Shultz, 91, of Gainesville, FL passed away on August 9, 2020 after a brief illness. He was born on May 11, 1929 in Somerville, NJ to Clarence W. and Evelyn M. Shultz (nee Nicol). He grew up surrounded by family near Latrobe, Pennsylvania, graduating from Derry Area High School in 1947. In 1951 he married Lillian Malcolm of Boston, Massachusetts. William served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and came home to work as a heavy equipment operator in the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway and other large projects in the northeast. In 1969, he and his family moved to Ft. Myers Beach and finally to Gainesville, Florida in 1973. Bill’s fascination with all things mechanical led him to a career with North American Van Lines as an owner operator in their high value products fleet. Logging countless miles he traveled the lower 48 states and Canada delivering diverse cargos ranging from Egyptian mummies to space shuttle components. For many years Bill attended Trinity United Methodist Church. Bill loved playing his saxophone, listening to country music and dancing with the Grand Squares of Gainesville. William was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian M. Shultz (2004), and sister Nancy Kopp (1983). He is survived by his children, Robert W. Shultz (Janice) and Ronald M. Shultz of Gainesville; Lisa A. Shultz of Portland Oregon; grandchildren Noah Robert Shultz, Joshua Emmett Shultz, Ronald Corey Shultz and Olivia Isabel Cuellar; and a sister, Joan Shively (Jon) of Estancia, New Mexico. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
